Visit by HRH The Princess Royal to Hereford

Bob and Bea were in attendance during HRH The Princess Royal’s visit to Hereford on Wednesday 15th January 2014.  HRH officially opened the Hereford Livestock Market on Roman Road, Hereford.  On arrival HRH was greeted by HM Lord-Lieutenant of Herefordshire, The Countess of Darnley JP who, in turn, introduced The Earl of Darnley DL, Bob and Bea and the Chairman of Herefordshire Council, Councillor Olwyn Barnett.  The Princess Royal was then introduced to the Co-Chairmen of Hereford Market Auctioneers, Mr Michael Evens and Mr Richard Hyde as well as the Board of Directors, Auctioneers and Staff of Hereford Market Auctioneers.  The Princess Royal then saw an auction of sheep before entering the main ring where she was heartily cheered before unveiling a plaque, officially opening the market.

As President of The Carers Trust, HRH then visited Herefordshire Carers Support and Family Drug Support in the Town Hall.  On arrival at the Town Hall, Lady Darnley presented the Mayor and Mayoress of Hereford, Councillor Philip Edwards and Mrs Bobby Hadley, The Chief Executive of the Carers Trust, Miss Thea Stein, The Chair and  CEO of Herefordshire Carers Support, Mrs Janet Fellows and Mrs Jacqueline Bremner.  HRH then proceeded on a tour of the Herefordshire Carers Support Exhibition escorted by Mrs Brenmer where she was introduced to staff and volunteers.

Her Royal Highness’s final visit was to the West Mercia Women’s Aid and West Mercia Rape and Sexual Abuse Support Schemes in Bath Street, Hereford.  On arrival, Lady Darnley presented the Chair and CEO of the West Mercia Women’s Aid, Mrs Nicola Fisher and Mrs Jan Frances to HRH.  The Princess was given a brief outline of the work of West Mercia Women’s Aid and she then had a tour of the offices where she met Trustees, Staff and Service Users.  Following a tour of the Training Area, Her Royal Highness departed.
