Herefordshire School Games

This is a great event for the county, with about 200 pupils from around 60 Herefordshire schools taking part in a range of sporting competitions, supported by around 150 young leaders.  The games were held on land at the Hereford Leisure Centre, on a fine day.  The day was organised by Peter Knight, Herefordshire PE and School Sport Development Manager.

It was a pleasure for Lucy and me to move about the ground and to watch the competitive spirit of all involved.  The organisation was excellent, and everyone seemed to be enjoying the day.  I could not resist a limited-duration race on a rowing machine with a younger participant, but otherwise I kept well out of it.

It is encouraging that sports are taken seriously across the county, and this day was a fitting celebration of the efforts of all involved.
