A Service of Thanksgiving to celebrate the Sixtieth Anniversary of the Coronation of Here Majesty the Queen

On Sunday 2nd June both Bob and Bea attended a Service of Thanksgiving to celebrate the Sixtieth Anniversary of the Coronation of Her Majesty the Queen at Hereford Cathedral by kind invitation of Her Majesty’s Lord Lieutenant of Herefordshire, The Countess of Darnley and the Dean of Hereford Cathedral, The Very Reverend Michael Tavinor. Also in attendance were The Chairman and Vice Chairman of Herefordshire Council and the Mayor and Mayoress of Hereford. The first Lesson was read by Mrs Wendy Price BEM. The second Lesson was read by Lt. Gen. Sir John Foley KCB, OBE, MC, DL. The Service was Evensong and Prayers of Intercession offered by Sue and John Rolfe. The Sermon was given by the 103rd Bishop of Hereford, The Right Reverend John Oliver who, as a chorister of Westminster School, attended the Queen’s Coronation in 1953. The offering of music was by Mr Stewart Taylor and the choir of Holy Trinity Church, Hereford accompanied by Dr Roy Massey MBE, the Cathedral Organist Emeritus. The symbols used during the Prayers of Intercession were provided by the members of the Cathedral’s Sunday School, led by Mrs Caroline Field and Canon Sandy Elliott inspired and guided the children in their art work.
