South Wye Police Boxing Academy

I jumped at the chance when I was invited to visit Hinton Community Centre last week and meet Vince Mcnally, who runs The South Wye Boxing Academy.

South Wye Police Boxing Academy has been an organisation in its own right since 2014, and provides a place to learn and develop for its 120 members. You don’t have to be a budding Tyson to get involved, everyone is welcome! The gym is really impressively equipped although eerily quiet the day I visited due to the lockdown. Vince explained how Hinton Community Centre is home to many, many groups, with thousands of people of all ages going through its doors each month. I can’t actually remember all of the groups there were so many: mums and tots, pensioners keep fit, bingo, sports clubs, Police cadets, housing and job club, Margaret’s beautiful community garden, a café, and even a church!

Vince and his dedicated team have made sure everything is ready to welcome people back when the restrictions are lifted. Thank you Vince, I really enjoyed my visit!
