Hereford City of Culture bid

I had an excellent meeting with Roger Morgan, the Chairman of the Hereford Cultural Partnership, and Clare Wichbold, the writer of our bid, to talk about Hereford’s aspiration to be UK City of Culture for 2021. There are eleven cities competing, and they will be reduced to a shortlist of four to move forward to a full bid in September. As befits a rural County, our bid in unique in that it includes not just the City but every town and village in Herefordshire. We have so much to offer, from the world-famous Three Choirs Festival to the vibrant music, drama and arts scene across the County. The competition will be tough, but success would be a wonderful complement to the new University and the Cyber-Centre, and a long-term boost to our economy.
