Queen’s Birthday Reception HQ Allied Rapid Reaction Corps, 18th June

The Headquarters of the Allied Rapid Reaction Corps is based at Imjin Barracks, Innsworth in Gloucestershire.  This is a multi national HQ comprising detachments from 16 nations Commanded by a British General, Lieutenant General Tim Evans CBE DSO.  The Corps has deployed operationally on 7 occasions including to Afghanistan.  Its forst deployment was to Sarajevo after the Dayton peace accord was signed and responsibility for operations passed from the UN to Nato.  It is a multi national successor of the old 1(BR) Corps.

It was a delight to meet many of the officers and to enjoy the ceremony of the Sounding of the Retreat performed by the Band and Bugles of the Rifles under the Direction of Major Lawrence Sale.
