On Sunday 23rd February 2014, Bob and Bea attended the Parade in Ledbury at which the ship’s Company of HMS Ledbury exercised their Freedom of the Town for the third time since they were granted Freedom in 2007. Hosted by the Mayor, Councillor Terry Widdows, Bob and Bea were met at the Town Hall Council Offices as were HM Lord-Lieutenant of Herefordshire, The Countess of Darnley JP, The Earl of Darnley, Rear Admiral Philip Wilcocks CB DSC DL, The Commanding Officer of HMS Ledbury, Lt Cdr Simon Pressdee and other dignitaries before walking out onto the dais. The Lord-Lieutenant, Rear-Admiral Wilcocks and Councillor Widdows then inspected the Parade.
The parade included the Ship’s Company of the HMS Ledbury, The Royal British Legion, Ross and Monmouth Sea Cadets, Hereford Sea Cadets and Ledbury Army Cadets. It was led by the Royal Marine Band from Plymouth.
The Lord-Lieutenant took the salute.
There were three Addresses: Lord-Lieutenant welcomed the Ship’s Company and said how proud the town was to be associated with HMS Ledbury. Lt Cdr Simon Pressdee commented that a Freedom Parade was always a very special moment in any ship’s affiliation and that they were very proud to exercise this honour in their twin town. Councillor Widdows then thanked everybody for their support.
